Job Description: 

Primary areas of focus will be assigned by the Director and can include activities directed toward growing existing businesses, creating new employment opportunities, and/or broadening the industrial, retail, and commercial base. Provides business and strategic planning for the department and is responsible for administrative, analytical and professional assistance to the City and the business community.

Salary: 
Starting at $2,429.80/Bi-Weekly
Job Requirements: 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Serves as representative on special projects, committees, and task forces as assigned, including those requiring interagency coordination, keeping the department apprised of issues as they arise; completes special projects as assigned; and coordinates special events, meetings and workshops when appropriate.

•May develop and make formal presentations to Council, CMO, Director, various boards, and constituents as assigned in the absence of the director or for special projects as assigned.

•Conducts research and analytical studies on a variety of programs and issues; coordinates and expedites reports and program information from departmental input; develops procedures and forms; formulates recommendations and prepares reports and correspondence.

•Works with the Director and liaisons with the City Manager’s Office on recommendations regarding proposed legislation.

•Maintains working knowledge of local commercial real estate, industrial, office, and retail land and buildings for sale or lease for commercial development.

•Assists with promoting retail development in the City of Lancaster utilizing recruiting, marketing and promotional techniques.

•Assists with business recruiting by reviewing and maintaining market analyses; interviewing prospects and arranging meetings; conducting follow-up activities; monitoring and reporting leads; tracking progress; and maintain records.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related professional or technical field required. Master’s Degree preferred. Economic development and business experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Class C Drivers License.
