Job Description: 

The Tulsa Regional Chamber is the principal business-driven leadership organization working to improve the quality of community life through the development of regional prosperity. Working with multiple public and private partners, the Chamber-led economic development plan, Tulsa’s Future, has created thousands of new jobs and added more than $1 billion to the region’s payroll.
Now in its third phase (2016-2020), Tulsa’s Future is designed to leverage diverse strategies to enhance the region’s standing. The plan calls for a new, more holistic approach to economic development. Business retention, expansion, and attraction remain at the core, but small business, workforce attraction and quality of life issues become part of a bigger plan for regional economic prosperity.
The Tulsa Regional Chamber recently had its five-star accreditation renewed by the US Chamber of Commerce, placing it among an elite group of organizations nationwide. Of the more than 7,000 chambers in the country, only 112 are accredited at the five-star level.
Vice President, Workforce Development
The Vice President of Workforce Development is responsible for the development and management of the chamber’s workforce development program which represents the collective best interests of chamber membership. Program involves working with membership and regional partners on developing public policy, developing strategies to implement policies, developing relationships with strategic workforce partners at all levels, and developing and implementing programmatic partnerships that further the chamber’s goals, such as Oklahoma Scholars and College Access Career Readiness Coaches.
·        Advocates the Chamber’s positions with elected officials statewide to create an education and workforce system that is attractive to potential residents, retains current residents and meets employers’ needs for a skilled and trained workforce.   
·        Provides management oversight to the programs and partnerships in the workforce area that achieve the Chambers’ goals for a talented workforce pipeline.  Oversees the strategic direction, allocation of time and commitment of resources to this area on behalf of chamber leaders.  Helps secure additional community partners and support when appropriate.
·        Represents the Chamber on community boards and committees that directly impact the work of the chamber, as requested and appropriate.
·        Exercises budgetary control over the workforce and development program.  Defines division objectives; develops an operating plan, including budget and manpower requirements, in compliance with Board decisions; develops divisional programs to comply with organization requirements. 
·        Provides leadership and promotes the goals and objective of the entire Chamber both internally with staff and externally with the membership, community and other organizations and individuals with which the chamber interacts.
·        Follows news reports, current events, outside task forces and other initiatives as they pertain to the Chamber’s workforce mission. 
·        Responsible for achieving a satisfactory rating annually as it relates to approved annual objectives.
·        Accountable by assuring that all direct reporting staff, if applicable, has achieved their annual development goals.
·        Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Job Requirements: 

The Person
·        Bachelor’s degree in workforce education and development or related field and five years’ experience in workforce development.
·        Advanced knowledge and interest in public policy issues and current events.
·        Demonstrated negotiating and lobbying skills.
·        Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; ability to motivate people.
·        Ability to develop and maintain relationships with all levels of individuals.
·        Working computer knowledge in Word, Excel, e-mail, and the internet.
·        Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.
·        Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
·        Strong interpersonal skills, insight into group dynamics, and the ability to develop and foster relationships.
·        Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
