Bonham Manufacturers Gather for Roundtable #4 At Kelso Technologies

On Wednesday evening September 16h City officials and Bonham Economic Development staff met again with local Bonham manufacturers in the fourth iteration of the roundtable-style discussion that were initiated last September. Participants met at Kelso Technologies’ Texas Avenue – Bonham Industrial Park facility for a chicken-pasta and fixin’s dinner - courtesy of local restaurateurs Brenda & Wayne Moore, and memorable pies from Healthy & Delicious!

The discussion’s central theme was once again workforce & workforce training-related topics. Djuna Forrester Executive Director of the Center for Workplace Learning at Grayson College oriented attendees on the mission and capabilities this outstanding regional resource has available. Ms. Forrester was joined by Terrence Steele, Director of Business Solutions at Workforce Solutions Texoma and Toni Modl, Manager of the Fannin County Workforce Center.

Mayor Floyd again presided over the get together, welcoming attendees and steering the well-focused conversation through the evenings agenda. Greg Balek, VP of Operations and Teala McMurtry, HR Manager served as site hosts for Kelso. Within the context of a facility tour Greg and Teala provided a very informative overview of Kelso’ railroad safety line of products and Kelso’s uncompromising commitment to quality, precision, innovation and endurance of their “sourced and made in the USA” values, manways and fabricated wares.

City Manager Sean Pate shared in the briefing duties, updating participants on a variety of local projects of interest including; US Hwy 82 & TX Hwy 121, Jones Field improvements and roadwork related to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

Firms present for this round included: Clayton Homes, Kelso Technologies, Lone Star Reel, Renlita Doors, and Wire & Plastics. The BEDCO board was represented by Board President Emily Porter and Executive Director of Economic Development Steve Filipowicz. The next Bonham Manufacturers’ Roundtable is tentatively scheduled for early January 2016.
