PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (April 28, 2021) — The Pflugerville City Council approved an economic development performance agreement (EDPA) between the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) Board of Directors and GT Distributors, Inc. (GT), a distributor specializing in high-quality law enforcement, military products and services, and fire and public safety supplies, during their regular meeting on April 27. The agreement was previously approved by the PCDC at a Regular Board Meeting on April 21.
The EDPA is contingent upon GT relocating all corporate operations from a 31,000-sf facility at 2545 Brockton Drive in Austin, investing $11.2 MM, and constructing a new 70,000 sf facility at 828 Meister Lane in Pflugerville. Besides accommodating the corporate headquarters, the project will include an expansion for GT’s largest product showroom in Texas and five other states that they serve.
Pflugerville’s positive business climate and accessibility to major highways were key features during the site selection process.
“We were looking for a new location that would provide great access, a business-friendly environment, and provide visibility for our employee-owners, vendors, and First Responder customers,” said Jim Orr, President, and CEO of GT Distributors. “We found everything in Pflugerville, and we look forward to working with PCDC and the City of Pflugerville as we build our new headquarters and recruit new employee-owners for our expansion.”
As part of the five-year EDPA, the PCDC is providing a total relocation grant of up to $300,000 provided that GT invests $11.2 MM and relocates and hires a total of 105 jobs over the term. In year one, the company is eligible for a relocation grant of $175,000 but must prove total investment and relocate a minimum of 90 jobs. In years two and three, the company is eligible for up to $75,000 annually, but must maintain the investment and previous jobs, and create five full-time jobs each year, for a total of 105 jobs by year five.
As an added benefit, GT Distributors, Inc. will provide discounts for the Pflugerville Police Department on ammunition, uniforms, specialized equipment and waive shipping fees for five years.
“We welcome GT Distributors as the newest member of our business community and look forward to their continued growth in Pflugerville,” said Amy Madison, PCDC Executive Director. “Since 1985, the company has had a presence in the Austin region, and we are pleased to keep them here providing needed products and ammunition to the Pflugerville Police Department and other first responders, as well as military and public safety professionals.”
