The Texas BEDC is offered two to three times per year. The BEDC will provide the participant with a comprehensive understanding of the keys of successful economic development. For those new to the profession, the BEDC is the first step toward professional certification.
The BEDC is accredited by the International Economic Development Council. As such, the TEDC is required to record attendance to meet the IEDC Course Standards. Each attendee must complete the requisite number of hours for all course modules in order to receive a completion certificate for the BEDC. The required modules must be a minimum of two (2) hours in length to meet accreditation standards. The BEDC qualifies as a professional economic development training requirement to sit for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) examination.
The TEDC will host the second Basic ED Course for 2024 in June in Fort Worth, Texas. The BEDC is a very popular course and there are a limited number of spots available in the class. Registration opens soon.
Due to demand and to promote a more diverse group of attendees for the benefit of the class, an organization is limited to a maximum of four (4) individuals that may attend any one TEDC Basic Economic Development Course. This policy is per BEDC and not for the year.
