Corrosion Resistant Alloys, L.P. (CRA) has selected a site in Washington County, Texas for a new production facility. The facility will be located on US 290 approximately two miles east of Brenham. The first phase of development is projected to include 80,000 square feet of manufacturing space with a capital investment of $30 million. CRA anticipates employment of 15 workers to support the first phase of this project. County Judge John Durrenberger states, “We are pleased to welcome CRA to our county and are encouraged by the quality jobs this project will provide our residents.”
CRA is a manufacturer of high-grade corrosion resistant alloy tubes with a primary market historically in the upstream oil and gas industry. CRA, founded in 2001, maintains global headquarters in Houston. From 2008 to 2011, CRA expanded operations from their core business sector as a distributor and stockist with acquisition of two of the world’s largest cold finishing mills. Today CRA is an industry leader utilizing just-in- time mill manufacturing to fulfill customer needs across industries requiring corrosion resistant tubulars that are currently unmet by standard supply chain models.
CRA has worked closely with Brenham | Washington County Economic Development over the past two years to bring this project to Washington County. Significant support for the project was provided by the Texas Economic Development Office in the Office of the Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Department of Agriculture Texas Capital Fund. While CRA is grateful for this support, revisions to CRA’s project since negotiations began in 2019 led CRA to respectfully decline the Texas Enterprise Fund incentives and Texas Capital Fund grant funds. CRA is grateful for the support of Washington County through their Tax Phase In program. Site work on the project is anticipated to begin by the end of 2021 with production scheduled to commence approximately 4th quarter of 2022. John Patchell, Founder and President of Corrosion Resistant Alloys states, “The new facility in Washington County will significantly enhance our manufacturing capacity, capabilities and speed by consolidating our equipment from the US and overseas in to one location. We are excited about what Washington County has to offer in numerous respects and for what this site means for the future of CRA.”
