Brenham | Washington County Economic Development

Brenham | Washington County Economic Development Organizaton (BWEDO) is proud to announce the opening of an innovative Retail Incubator this Fall in Downtown Brenham. BWEDO is partnering with the Brenham Main Street organization and local entrepreneur Tiffany Morisak, owner of YellowTruck, LLC through a public-private partnership to bring this project to Brenham.

The retail incubator will be located on the ground floor of Morisak’s building at 101 E. Main Street, a prime retail location to attract both local and tourism visitors. The ‘lab’ portion of the incubator, branded YellowTruck Market (YTM), will provide a beautifully curated retail space to entrepreneurs of unique and custom merchandise. YTM is specifically targeting entrepreneurs who are makers of a product ready to grow to the next level or those who market a product that fills a gap in the existing retail offerings of Downtown Brenham.

The first cohort of retail entrepreneurs will be mentored through the process of opening and/or growing their business, including training in finance, customer service, management, marketing, human resources, and much more. Participants in this two-year program will be required to attend monthly educational sessions, attain specified benchmarks established for each of four six-month tiers during the program, and work in the retail lab (YellowTruck Market) a minimum of 12 hours per week. In addition to the education and mentoring, participants will receive reduced rent which escalates to market rate by the culmination of the two-year program.

The YellowTruck Market Advisory Board oversees the program and is comprised of representatives from: Brenham | Washington County EDO, Brenham Main Street, YellowTruck LLC, Brenham Community Development Corporation, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and the Small Business Development Center at Blinn College.

Applications to become part of the YellowTruck Market group of businesses are available at https://YellowTruckMarket.com. Interviews begin the week of August 23rd with a deadline for applications for the first cohort of participants on August 30th.
