Worfe named President & CEO of the Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County

Angleton, Texas…Patti Worfe, former Executive Vice President of the Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County, has been named President & CEO of the organization. She replaces Gary Basinger who retired from the position on December 31, 2021.

“With Patti’s municipal and economic development experience, The Alliance is set to reach greater heights under her leadership,” said Basinger who hired Worfe in February 2021 with the goal of taking over the President’s position upon his retirement. The Executive Board of The Alliance recently voted to accept Basinger’s recommendation and made the appointment effective January 1, 2022.

Worfe has over 22 years of Economic Development experience, primarily in Municipal Government having worked for the City of Angleton for nearly 16 years and the City of Stafford for the past 6 years prior to coming to The Alliance. She is a certified Economic Developer through the Community Development Institute and holds the Professional Community and Economic Developer designation (PCED). Patti is a native of Brazoria County having grown up in Freeport and living in Angleton for the majority of her adult life.

“Having worked with Patti for the past 20 years in various roles, I know her heart for Brazoria County and her knowledge of our great County is going to solidify the work The Alliance does to make Brazoria County a premier place to live, work and play,” said County Judge Matt Sebesta on the appointment. “I look forward to working with Patti and The Alliance as we work together to advocate for a strong business climate in Brazoria County.”

“We are pleased to have successfully vetted out various options for the position of President and CEO of The Alliance and to have someone with the passion, drive and existing relationships that Patti possesses to lead our organization forward,” said Brent Bowles, Chairman of the Board of The Alliance. “The Executive Board and members of The Alliance are eager to work with her in expanding the existing footprint of our current businesses and also to develop diversified opportunities for new businesses looking for a great place to call home.”

The Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County, founded in 1983, is a membership-based public/private non-profit corporation. It is specifically chartered to promote economic development in Brazoria County.
