October 16, 2023

Organization

Texas Economic Development Council

The Texas Economic Development Council recently launched the TEXAS RESILIENCY HUB to celebrate and share inspiring stories of Texas communities that have displayed exemplary work in establishing, implementing, and maintaining programs that support their economies after facing economic distress and to to highlight the importance of economic resiliency planning and implementation; broadcast and share innovative solutions to common economic problems; highlight potential future challenges and opportunities within their regions; and reinvigorate professionals involved with the programs and initiatives within the meaningful outcomes and potential for their work.

The TEDC defines economic resilience as the ability of a community's businesses and economic development efforts to better withstand and recover more quickly from adverse incidents of any kinds.

**Four regions were selected for the Texas Resiliency Hub - Kerrville, Lubbock, McAllen and Rockport.** The case studies of those four communities and regions showcase their initiatives and programs which exemplify resilience and recovery in Texas. The TEDC understands and is aware there are many more examples of Texas communities that have also shown to be resilient in case of adversity and that have programs that exemplify sustainability initiatives. Due to limitations of funds and time, we can only showcase four communities for this project.

The Texas Resiliency Hub includes a video and podcast interviews of community leaders, economic development professionals and business representatives that played a significant role in the projects and initiatives highlighted. A white paper for each community also details the story, partners, tools, impacts and outcomes for each project.

Please take time to visit the Texas Resiliency Hub to learn more about how to prepare for disasters that may impact your community and to learn ways to build a more sustainable and resilient city, town or region. You can access the Texas Resiliency Hub from the TEDC's website at www.texasedc.org or the direct link below.
