HEDC Board, City Names New Director

The Hillsboro Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) and City of Hillsboro has announced the hiring of Jessica Trew as the new Community and Economic Development Director of the HEDC and City.

Trew comes to Hillsboro after most recently serving as Senior Director of Business Attraction with the Greater San Marcos Partnership economic development organization. She brings eight years of experience in the econom-ic development field.

Other stops included the City of Fort Worth and the Connecticut Economic Resource Center.

Her career started in the political realm working for a state senator in the Connecticut General Assembly and then the City of Hartford City Council.

She earned a double bachelor degree in Political Science and So-ciology from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and then a mas-ter’s in Public Administration, Master of Arts in Survey Research and graduate certificate in Public Financial Management.

Since graduation, she has earned her Certified Economic Developer (CeCD) certification, a top stand-ard in the economic development field.

Her current goal is to complete her Economic Development Fi-nance Professional (EDFP) designation.

Natasha Sawyer, president of the Hillsboro EDC board of direc-tors commented on the hire, “We are happy to welcome Jessica to Hillsboro EDC, and we are pleased that she brings her economic de-velopment experience as well as enthusiasm to this position.”

Trew said, "Hillsboro stands at the threshold of opportunity, stra-tegically positioned for growth. I eagerly anticipate working along-side the City and HEDC to foster deliberate development and ele-vate the already exceptional quali-ty of life for businesses and resi-dents alike."

The director will replace Art Mann, who currently serves as the Community and Economic Development director. He will be retiring May 24.
