SACHSE, TEXAS (September 17, 2024) - The City of Sachse has promoted Jerod Potts to Director of Economic Development. Potts previously served as the Economic Development Manager for the City, and he will assume the role of Director on October 1, 2024.
City Manager Gina Nash stated, "Jerod’s leadership and dedication to fostering growth in our community have been exceptional. In addition to his extensive experience in economic development, his background in city planning makes him uniquely qualified for this role. Jerod combines technical expertise with a deep understanding of both the development process and city regulations. This allows him to bridge the gap between developers and staff, ensuring that projects are not only visionary but also achievable. We look forward to his continued impact in this new role."
Potts noted, “It’s been an honor serving this wonderful community, and I look forward to continue working with a great team to help Sachse reach its goals.”
Potts has served as the Economic Development Manager for the City of Sachse since June 2022, after joining as the Assistant to the City Manager for Economic Development in 2021. In this role, Potts has focused on business retention, expansion, and attraction, working closely with both the City Manager and the Sachse Economic Development Corporation. Prior to joining the City of Sachse, Potts spent nearly eight years with the City of Southlake, Texas, in various roles, most recently as Policy & Strategic Initiative Principal Planner. In this position, he led efforts in comprehensive planning, citizen engagement, strategic management, and process improvements.
Potts is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Texas City Management Association (TCMA), North Texas City Management Association (NTCMA), International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC), and the American Planning Association (APA). He holds certification from the American Planning Association as a certified planner (AICP). In 2024, Potts graduated from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute program. Potts earned a degree in Political Science from Oklahoma State University, where he double-majored in Political Science and English, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas.
