ALLEN, TEXAS [March 24, 2025] – Allen Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is proud to announce the addition of Scott Connell to our leadership team as Vice President. Connell will lead efforts in business development and oversee the execution of significant economic deals, bringing his extensive experience in economic growth, company expansions, and community leadership to the forefront of our mission.
Connell brings with him over 35 years of economic development experience, successfully contributing to the growth of cities across Texas and North Carolina. Most recently, Connell served as the President and CEO of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce since September 2022. During his tenure, he spearheaded the expansion and development of the Killeen Business Park, welcoming major new businesses such as Dongjin Semichem and Siddons-Martin Emergency Group while facilitating key expansions for MGC Pure Chemicals and USAMM.
Beyond these contributions, Connell played an instrumental role in the creation of Anthem Park, a major community destination that has brought high-profile businesses like Dave & Buster's and Southern Roots Brewing Company to Downtown Killeen, further enhancing the local economy and bolstering community engagement.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Scott to the team,” said Dan Bowman, CEO/Executive Director of AEDC. “His extensive expertise, proven leadership, and vision for fostering local and regional growth make him the ideal person to lead our business development initiatives. Scott’s track record of creating impactful economic change will be a tremendous asset as we pursue projects that drive progress for our community.”
A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, Connell is also a graduate of the Advanced Economic Development Leadership program. His achievements have been nationally recognized, earning him a place as one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers by Consultant Connect in 2015.
Connell’s career includes notable roles with major Texas cities, such as Sherman, Irving, and Fort Worth, and he has consistently proven his ability to deliver successful strategies that boost businesses and strengthen local economies.
“I am honored to join AEDC and contribute to its mission of community and economic development,” said Connell. “This is an exciting opportunity to build upon past successes while forging new connections and paving the way for innovative business initiatives that serve both local businesses and residents.”
