The Borderplex Alliance
El Paso County, the City of Socorro, and The Borderplex Alliance are proud to announce that the Wiwynn Corporation, a leading Taiwanese provider of cloud infrastructure, plans to invest $152 million in the Borderplex region. Wiwynn’s expansion in the Borderplex region will establish a new manufacturing and testing facility for data center servers. The expansion will create 514 jobs and help solidify our region as a burgeoning tech hub.
This announcement is part of the Borderplex Alliance’s ongoing efforts to attract companies, talent, and tech leaders from Asia and re-shore or nearshore them to the Borderplex region, highlighted by a recent jobs recruitment mission to Taiwan.
“The workforce, business environment, and civic leadership have made the Borderplex region a natural choice for Wiwynn’s expansion. We look forward to our expansion and strengthening our ties in the region,” Joseph Hsu, General Manager, Wiwynn North America Operations.
“Wiwynn's investment will bring cutting edge, high tech jobs to our region and enhance our competitiveness on the world stage. El Paso County is honored to be part of this transformative project,” said Ricardo A. Samaniego, El Paso County Judge.
Wiwynn is a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and delivery of servers, storage systems, and networking equipment for data centers. This new facility, located at the Socorro Logistics Center in Socorro, Texas, will support the growing demand for advanced cloud infrastructure and play a key role in the companies operations world wide.
“This isn’t just a win for Socorro—it’s a statement to the world. Wiwynn’s decision to plant roots here proves that our city is no longer a hidden gem—we are a rising star in global tech. With this $152 million investment and 514 high-skilled jobs, we’re not just building a facility; we’re building futures, forging innovation, and putting Socorro on the map as the City with a Mission and a momentum that can’t be stopped,” said Mayor Rudy Cruz Jr., City of Socorro, Texas.
With its strategic location, skilled workforce, and attractive business environment, the Borderplex region is making a name for itself with technology companies.
“This exciting announcement is further proof that our strategy of engaging tech companies from Asia is a successful approach for economic development in our region. Together with our community partners and local governments we will continue to pursue high wage, high skill jobs that keep our region on the forefront of innovation,” said Jon Barela, CEO of The Borderplex Alliance.
