Princeton, TX – May 16, 2025—According to newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Princeton has earned the top spot as the fastest-growing city in the United States. Between July 2023 and July 2024, Princeton experienced an astonishing 30.6% population increase, bringing its estimated population to over 37,000 residents.

This explosive growth highlights Princeton's transformation into a vibrant, sought-after destination within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Strategic location, affordable housing, and a commitment to infrastructure and community development have positioned the city as a beacon for families, businesses, and professionals alike.

Jim Wehmeier, CEO of the Princeton Economic and Community Development Corporations (PEDC/PCDC), reflected on the city's unprecedented rise:

"It's an incredibly exciting time in Princeton! To be named the fastest-growing city in America shows the growth and opportunity in what I believe will become one of America's premier cities."

Wehmeier emphasized that while population numbers tell one story, the real potential lies in the leadership and vision driving the community forward.

"To be honest, what is even more exciting than the growth is the talent currently leading the city, from the City Council to City Management and the department heads. It's that talent that will take the rapid growth and make it something truly special."

"Additionally, with the unmatched parks and open spaces plans that are currently being implemented due to the recently passed $109 million parks bond, Princeton, under the current leadership, will be seeing tremendous quality of life growth in the very near future. These improvements in parks and recreation are truly next-level and not seen elsewhere," Wehmeier said.

City officials are already responding to growth demands through infrastructure investments, quality-of-life enhancements, and an ambitious economic development strategy. The city is actively attracting major retailers, healthcare providers, and office developers to meet the needs of its evolving population.

"The rapid growth and change in demographics—getting younger as a community, getting wealthier, more educated, and more diverse—makes us a city with tremendous opportunity for quality development," said City of Princeton Mayor Eugene Escobar, Jr.

That includes quality retail, healthcare, professional office, headquarters, research and development, and other high-quality and desirable developments," said Wehmeier.

Princeton's forward-looking leadership and commitment to sustainability ensure that the city's meteoric growth will bring lasting benefits for generations.

Mayor Escobar summed up Princeton's future:

"We're not just adding numbers; we're building a city where families thrive, businesses flourish, and the quality of life is paramount. Our potential is infinite."
