Mount Pleasant Economic Development Corporation Announces New Executive Director

Mount Pleasant, TX — The Mount Pleasant Economic Development Corporation (MPEDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Carter as its new Executive Director, effective August 11, 2025. 

With a strong background in economic development, business recruitment, and strategic planning, Mr. Carter brings more than 15 years of experience working with public and private stakeholders to drive growth and investment. In this role, he will oversee the MPEDC’s ongoing mission to attract new industries, support existing businesses, and foster long-term economic vitality for the Mount Pleasant community. 

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Carter and his wife to Mount Pleasant,” said Erman Hensel, Board President of the MPEDC. “His leadership and vision will be instrumental in advancing the strategic priorities of our organization and building on the momentum we've created with recent projects.” 

Carlton Schwab, President/CEO of the Texas Economic Development Council, expressed, “He is a born leader, and, in a relatively short time-frame has not only done valuable work on behalf of the TEDC, he has been elected into the rotation to become Chair of our organization. He will serve in that capacity in 2028. He will do a great job for the MPEDC and Mount Pleasant.” 

Prior to joining the MPEDC, Mr. Carter served in Economic Development roles in Amarillo, Plainview, and the High Ground of Texas regional group.
