TOMBALL, TEXAS (August 8, 2025) – Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) Executive Director, Kelly Violette, was recognized as Economic Developer of the Year at the 2025 Texas REDnews Real Estate Awards. Violette joined Devon Rodriguez of the City of Sugar Land as a finalist.
Held August 7 at the JW Marriott Houston by The Galleria, the awards ceremony honored the top people, businesses and projects in the region. A panel of judges selected the award finalists and recipients.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by peers and industry leaders. Nothing is achieved alone, therefore, I share this award with our TEDC staff, board, city leaders, and many partners that make Tomball such a special place,” offered Violette. “Tomball has been my professional home for 18 years and I take great joy in serving our community. It is the people and businesses of Tomball who inspire me every day. I am especially grateful for them upon receiving this award.”
Violette was accompanied to the event by Tomball Mayor Lori Klein Quinn; TEDC board members Lisa Covington (president), Danny Hudson (vice president), Latrell Shannon (treasurer), and Wayne Hall; Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Bruce Hillegeist; and TEDC staff executives Tiffani Wooten, Assistant Director, and Tori Gleason, Economic Development Coordinator.
“Kelly leads a strong, successful team that brings immense value to the City of Tomball. On behalf of the TEDC board of directors, the Mayor, and City Council, I congratulate Kelly and the TEDC staff on this well-deserved recognition. Her longevity and track record serving Tomball warrants appreciation,” remarked Covington.
Violette has served as TEDC Executive Director since 2011. She holds professional certifications as Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) and Certified Planner (AICP). Previously, she served as city planner for Tomball from 2008 – 2011 and coordinator for the TEDC from 2007 – 2008. Prior to coming to Tomball in 2007, Violette worked in city planning and management for Riverside, California. Violette earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science/Administrative Studies from University of California – Riverside in 2003.
