Paris, Texas–August 8, 2025–Today, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)celebrated the grand opening of their new TxDOT Paris District Headquarters. The state-of-the-art facility, spanning 120,000 square feet across 12 buildings, represents a landmark moment for the region, ensuring 160 high-quality jobs remain in Paris while securing the legacy of the Paris District Office.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held at the new headquarters in the PEDC-Owned Gene Stallings Park, gathered 200 attendees, including TxDOT staff, leadership, former leadership, PEDC Board Members, City Council representatives, City Staff, chamber representatives, project contributors, and citizens.
“This new facility is a testament to the partnership between TxDOT and our region,” said Josh Bray, Chair of the PEDC. “TxDOT has been pivotal in enhancing road connectivity and safety, which are the backbone of economic development in Paris and Northeast Texas. Their track record of past and planned projects demonstrates a clear commitment to strengthening infrastructure and driving regional economic growth.”
This modern facility brings new capabilities and operational enhancements to the region. Its features include a regional fleet mechanic shop, a sign shop, a specialized bridge/structural crew housed on-site, and a cutting-edge control room serving all nine counties in the district as both an operations hub and emergency response center.
“The facility symbolizes more than just its operational significance; it is a critical retention project ensuring Texas-sized benefits for decades to come,” said Maureen Hammond, PEDC Executive Director. “With an annual payroll estimated at $10 million and a projected economic impact exceeding $500 million over the next decade, the new headquarters plays a vital role in regional development.”
This facility makes a bold visual and strategic statement. The state-of-the-art building not only anchors PEDC’s Gene Stallings Business Park but also serves as a gateway into our community from US HWY 82.
Previously, TxDOT Paris District operated out of City of Paris-owned buildings under a 99-year lease that was nearing its conclusion. The PEDC supported the project through identifying a site at their industrial park that would provide visibility and centralized access. The new headquarters represents years of planning and reflects a shared commitment to progress.
“TxDOT has enjoyed great partnership with City of Paris and Lamar County as well as other counties that make up the Paris District for the past 100 years,” said Noel Paramanantham, District Engineer at TxDOT’s Paris District. “Together we have delivered impactful projects that have improved the quality of life for our citizens. This new facility cements are presence in the area as we embark into the next 100 years of partnership and service.
The TxDOT Paris District Headquarters s represents collaboration and progress, positioned to drive sustained growth and prosperity in Paris and Northeast Texas for future generations.
