Dear Mr. President:

In 2026, the United States faces a growing challenge that directly impacts its young people: access to affordable housing. As costs rise and supply lags, many young adults face significant barriers to purchasing their first homes—affecting not only individuals, but also families and communities.

In response to these concerns, bipartisan support has emerged for meaningful solutions that can increase the housing supply. One such effort is the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, legislation designed to streamline the regulatory process for building new homes. By reducing unnecessary barriers and encouraging development, this bill has the potential to expand housing availability, lower costs, and make homeownership more attainable for our nation’s youth.

More importantly, the benefits of homeownership extend well beyond economics. The home is where parents and children grow. It is where respect, discipline, and kindness are learned. It is the foundation of society and culture. For many, it is the essence of the American Dream—a place of security, opportunity, and belonging. By expanding access to homeownership, families will become more stable, economies will strengthen, and communities will prosper.

The Catholic Action Network believes that expanding access to homeownership is essential—just as a house of worship is the people, a house with love is the family. Should this bill reach your desk, I respectfully urge you to sign the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act into law. Doing so would represent a significant step toward improving affordability, expanding opportunity, and strengthening communities across our great nation.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully,

Calvin Pacleb
