Huhtamaki goes BIG in Texas: Cutting the ribbon on a 400,000 square foot expansion

Huhtamaki proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its expanded manufacturing facility in Paris, Texas on June 3, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued investment in North America. Members of the Global Executive Team (GET) and North America Leadership Team (NALT) joined plant employees, community and state leaders, business partners, construction, and equipment suppliers to commemorate the occasion.

“Today’s ribbon cutting represents much more than the completion of a 400,000 square-foot construction project,” said Ralf K. Wunderlich, Huhtamaki President and CEO. “This reflects our long-term commitment to our Foodservice customers, our people, and to sustainable growth in North America.”  

The ground-breaking on the expansion began in December 2023 to strengthen Huhtamaki’s ability to service quick-service restaurant (QSR) customers throughout the Southeastern and Midwestern United States.

Speaking on behalf of the Paris Economic Development Corporation, Executive Director Maureen Hammond commented that the ribbon-cutting milestone is meaningful because it represents a commitment kept - to the people who come to work each day, to the families who depend on the jobs created, and to the future of the Paris community.

Going further, Ms. Hammond stated “Economic development often focuses on attracting new companies, but at the PEDC, we believe the most important opportunities come from the employers who are already here.”

The Paris facility has a rich manufacturing legacy dating back more than 50 years to 1972. Huhtamaki’s proud participation in the Paris area officially began 15 years ago when the facility was acquired from Paris Packaging.

“Operating in Paris, Texas, is incredibly important to Huhtamaki,” stated Sara Engber, President of Huhtamaki North America. “We are expanding our family and growing our employee base. Texas is known for doing things big, and at Huhtamaki, we have big plans. We are proud to call Paris a cornerstone of our North American operations.”

Following the formal program, guests gathered for the ceremonial ribbon cutting, celebrating alongside the employees whose efforts continue to drive success at the Paris facility and support customers across the region.
