BKCEDC Celebrates Home to Texas Program, Investing in Kendall County's Future Workforce

BOERNE, Texas — The Boerne Kendall County Economic Development Corporation (BKCEDC) recently recognized students and local employers who participated in the 2026 Home to Texas internship program, an initiative that helps connect talented students with local employers while strengthening Kendall County's future workforce.

BKCEDC hosted its annual Home to Texas Intern Reception on July 30 at Sunny's All Day Brunch & Bar, bringing together interns, host employers, community leaders, and community partners to celebrate the program's impact on students, local businesses, and Kendall County’s future workforce.

The Home to Texas internship program connects University of Texas students with employers in their hometown communities, providing students with meaningful professional experience while introducing them to rewarding career opportunities close to home. Participants also receive a paid summer stipend, making it easier for students to gain valuable workplace experience while contributing to the communities they call home.

For BKCEDC, the program helps strengthen Kendall County's future workforce by connecting local employers with the next generation of professionals.

This summer, four BKCEDC member organizations participated as Home to Texas host employers:

• Agave Design Studio

• Morningside Ministries

• Prytime Medical Devices

• SEnergy

Throughout the summer, interns gained hands-on experience, built professional relationships, and developed valuable workplace skills while learning more about the industries that help drive Kendall County's economy.

As planning begins for the Summer 2027 Home to Texas program, BKCEDC encourages businesses interested in hosting a Home to Texas intern to reach out and learn more about becoming a host employer. The organization also encourages rising sophomores with Kendall County roots to explore the Home to Texas program and consider spending next summer gaining valuable professional experience in their hometown.
