Wiwynn Announces $275 Million Expansion in Socorro, Creating 2,000 New Jobs
For Immediate Release: Socorro, TX — The City of Socorro is thrilled to announce in partnership with the County of El Paso and support from Borderplex Alliance, the expansion of Wiwynn Technology Corporation in the City of Socorro.
Wiwynn Technology Corporation, an IT Cloud technology manufacturer with headquarters in Taipei, has made the decision to invest over $275 million in Socorro that will involve a distribution and manufacturing campus at the Socorro Logistics Centre Park. Wiwynn will create an additional 2,000 jobs as part of this expansion. This makes it the county’s largest job expansion in years.
On Thursday, the City of Socorro approved a $1.8 million Chapter 380 agreement to support the investment being made by Wiwynn. The approved City of Socorro incentive package involves:
Chapter 380 agreement that allows personal property tax rebate to be paid over 10 years for a maximum tax rebate of $1,836,462.54.
Construction permit waiver worth up to $200,000.
The incentive is based on the company investing at least $146.5 million in personal property and building improvements and creating 2,000 jobs within 4 years. In addition, Wiwynn agrees that five percent of the new jobs will be for residents of the City of Socorro. Wiwynn will be hiring production and warehouse personnel as it ramps up. The projected average wage is $19/hour plus benefits.
The new Wiwynn property in Socorro will encompass two industrial buildings totaling over 866K square feet to serve for production of cloud-based AI and edge computing servers to meet the demand from US customers, and distribution of IT cloud products and components. Having recently arrived in Socorro in 2025, Wiwynn will have a campus measuring over 1.6 million square feet and a combined workforce of 2,500 employees.
"Socorro made a promise, and today Wiwynn is answering with one of the largest votes of confidence in our city's history," said Rudy Cruz Jr., Mayor of Socorro.
