PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (June 28, 2021) — The Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Nana Academy (Nana), an appliance repair training provider, to offer training programs and opportunities for local residents interested in appliance repair careers or home-based businesses.
“The PCDC is focused on creating a pipeline of skilled technicians for local companies, and through Nana, provides the necessary upskilling and training for the local workforce. The Nana Academy provides resources and necessary training for program graduates to source jobs in the Pflugerville area. It is another great tool for Pflugerville to expand its workforce to promote business growth,” said Amy Madison, PCDC Executive Director.
With this partnership, Nana will assist graduates with placement in their first job and help them build their careers through an AI-powered marketplace platform. Nana has partnered with agencies across the country to provide training to underserved, low-income, and otherwise marginalized communities with success, and serves a cross-section of self-employed, veterans, immigrants, and underserved populations.
“We are excited to partner with the PCDC in upskilling the workforce with essential skills and providing economic opportunities. COVID-19 gave us a glimpse into the challenges society faces when dealing with a high unemployment rate,” said David Zamir, Founder & CEO. “In the next ten years, 35M Americans will lose their current jobs due to technology automation. PCDC is a pioneer in understanding the importance of retraining the workforce ahead of the curve to sustain the health of the Pflugerville community and society.”
In the agreement formalized on June 1, the PCDC will assist with community-wide marketing for Nana Academy training programs as well as locating training facilities within Pflugerville for in-person training. The PCDC will explore opportunities to fund training programs and seek out third-party scholarships for Pflugerville residents enrolling in Nana training programs.
Nana Academy will work with the PCDC to create entrepreneurial training programs for those who are interested in entering the appliance repair industry. Nana will also provide important data to track enrollment and success outcomes following completion of the program. The two organizations plan to collaborate and provide ongoing support for Nana training programs in the Pflugerville community.
