Texas Made Coaltion

Texas small businesses deserve to be successful, sustainable and profitable. And for that reason, we have created the Texas Made Coalition.

As Texas small business owners, we are hard-working, passionate and dedicated to our customers and our craft. We all have experienced great hardships in our businesses during the pandemic when it comes to sales, marketing and distribution. Many of our businesses are legacy companies that have been passed down for generations, others are newly created by Texas entrepreneurs.

We find our businesses challenged everyday by the giants (big business) when it comes to distribution, warehousing, cost of shipping, costs of materials, marketing, promotional budgets and staff. One challenge we all have is shipping costs, they are very high and for some products shipping costs more than the actual product. Because of Amazon Prime, people have been trained to expect free shipping. As small businesses we cannot negotiate the shipping rates that Amazon has and we simply can’t afford to pay for the shipping. Another challenge is the entry cost to get into a distributor. Many expect $25,000 to put 3 products on the shelf while many large grocery chains want $30,000 with no guarantee of sales or re-orders. They also wanted the bottom price and an allowance of 15% for promotions. Some distributors require 6 months to pay for the products they order. Others want free products that they sell for 100% profit. All these things leave very little profit for the small business owners. Equally disturbing is that distributors no longer actively sell your products; they put it in their catalog (most charge a fee to do this) with 1000’s of other products and expect the small business owner to send buyers to them to find our products. Distributor's charges at the end of the day are between 35-40% margins because of hidden fees and other ‘surprise’ deductions. Chain retailers expect the same. Small businesses are challenged by these financial constraints leaving them unable to afford getting into distribution and chain retailers to provide their products to the Texas families they serve.

Texas Made Coalition is prepared to fight hard for the small business owners of Texas consumable products and to bring life back into the communities they live in and support. Our solutions will allow the small business owner to take back their pride and their profits by providing a one stop solution that covers sales, marketing, fulfillment, distribution, logistics and warehousing. Our solution will allow the small business owners to be more competitive on the shelf and consumers will be better able to afford quality local made products that support their communities. It also allows restaurants to buy and use local and it will give them better control of their costs and menu pricing.

This program is designed to turn a grim situation for many small businesses into a sustainable and profitable solution allowing them to continue their family legacy. By relieving these business owners of daily stress and anxiety, this program will allow them to have peace of mind and hope.

We would love to have a conversation with you about how we might work together to help grow your Texas economies.
