The Basic Economic Development Course focuses on the fundamental concepts, tools and skills needed to be successful in today's political, economic and business environment. The BEDC will provide the participant with a comprehensive understanding of the keys of successful economic development. For those new to the profession, the BEDC is the first step toward professional certification.
This course is conducted through a partnership with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).
BEDC Event Safety Protocols
TEDC will follow the guidelines offered by the CDC, which currently include wearing masks in indoor spaces for all individuals, regardless of their vaccination status. Attendees are required to wear masks while attending and participating in the TEDC event, unless actively eating or drinking at meal functions. We will monitor CDC guidelines and will adjust our requirements as they make changes.
Registrants are encouraged to not attend the TEDC event in person if they are ill or have been recently exposed to COVID-19. Those individuals may request a full refund of their registration fee, if paid.
Attendees that become ill with COVID-19 or have been recently exposed to COVID-19 while attending the TEDC event, are to leave the venue and promptly notify TEDC staff.
Additional safety protocols may be put in place, or current protocols may be changed to adjust to the CDC guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the status of the COVID-19 pandemic between now and the event.
The Fall Basic ED Course begins Tuesday, October 26th, at 9:00 AM and ends Friday, October 29th at 12:00 PM.
The TEDC's discounted room block rate at the Embassy Suites is currently $179.00/night+tax. There are limited number of rooms available in the TEDC's room block. The room block rate will expire on October 4, 2021.

All registrations are to be made online. Registrations will not be accepted by mail, email, telephone or fax. Payments in advance are encouraged, unless specified to be paid prior to the event. Invoices are required to be paid within 30 days following the event. Payments may be made in the form of check or online via credit card. Purchase orders will not be accepted as a form of payment.
All cancellations must be received in writing via email to TEDC staff. Cancellations received in writing on or before (10 business days), and which payment has been received, will be refunded via check following the event. All refunds will be charged a $35.00 administration cancellation fee. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after (10 business days). A registrant who does not submit a written cancellation or attend the event, is considered a No-Show and is not eligible for a refund. A registrant who does not submit a written notice of cancellation or attend the event is still responsible for the registration fee.
